ESSAY QUESTIONS

ESSAY QUESTION 1:
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.

The State Government has a major role in ensuring the economic growth of our state. Legislation can either assist or hinder new jobs, business, and even opportunities for growth. This must be evaluated with a keen eye to benefiting the majority and essentially making TN second to none in the job market.

ESSAY QUESTION 2:
Explain your views regarding the roles state government and parents have in elementary and secondary education.

The state government should lay the ground work for education, yet the parents should be ultimately responsible for their childs success in education. Far to long have we allowed less and less parent involvement which has essentially hurt our children and their educational success. The state and parents should be working hand in hand to ensure all levels of education meet and exceed the students potential.

ESSAY QUESTION 3:
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?

Recently I was able to respond and assist in the South Carolina floods. Simply being there was a moving experience. To hear the comments "the responder's from TN are so courteous and professional with caring hearts" made the experience even greater. This experience satisfied me on multiple levels from showing my daughter that no matter the boarders every life matters, Being able to represent my State and make our State stand out, and just the fact of being able to give back to those who needed it.

ESSAY QUESTION 4:
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?

The ability to listen and share along with making common sense decisions that are not reflected by a political agenda or associated party, simply by the constituents voice.

ESSAY QUESTION 5:
What bill passed in the last General Assembly that you would have voted against and why, or what bill did not pass in the last General Assembly that you wish had passed and why?

The Bible becoming the official state book would have been a NO vote for me. This would have been based on the Bible being a sacred text and also it impedes upon others who do not use the Bible for worship yet are still a great asset to our State.
