ESSAY QUESTIONS
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.
I believe that the state should remove restrictions that would prevent a business from operating the way it needs to. Allowing companies to flourish and expand will increase job availability.
Explain your views regarding the roles state government and parents have in elementary and secondary education.
I think that elementary and secondary education should be handled by local governments with heavy involvement from parents.
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?
One of the most satisfying things I have accomplished is helping to secure funding for the New Columbia State Community College campus. Investing in this property will better serve the people of Tennessee and contribute to an educated population that attracts companies to establish locations in our state.
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?
Having owned a successful State Farm agency for 40 years, I can relate to business owners and their needs. My last 6 years as Finance Chairman have given me an even greater understanding of the state's budget and what we must do to maintain our state's high fiscal standing.
