ESSAY QUESTION 1:
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.

The state should foster a business friendly environment through low taxes, minimal regulations, and a making resources available to ensure a well-trained workforce.

ESSAY QUESTION 2:
What are your thoughts about a parent of a child in a low performing public school being provided a voucher equal to the amount of the state’s per-student expenditure that would be applied toward the child’s private school tuition?

I think this is an idea worth exploring, as children should not be trapped in a low performing educational environment.

ESSAY QUESTION 3:
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?

I founded Defeat Duchenne, Inc., a non-profit corp. that has raised and contributed funds to try to find a cure or treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. To date, since 2009, Defeat Duchenne has contributed almost $500,000 for this cause.

What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?

My legal skills(J.D. Memphis State Univ. 1985) and my business experience(founded 4 businesses from scratch, and one non-proft corp.)

ESSAY QUESTION 5:
What bill that passed in the last General Assembly would you have voted against and why, or what bill that was not passed in the last General Assembly do you wish had passed and why?

I actually voted against a bill that created a new occupational license - pharmacy benefit managers. The board that oversees this occupation is made up of persons within the occupation and this is not I the best interest of the public.

I wish that Rep. Goins bill that would have limited agency fee increases to the rate of change in the CPI had passed.
