ESSAY QUESTIONS

ESSAY QUESTION 1:
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.

The state should provide an environment that makes it attractive for business to come and grow in our state. Low taxes, less fees and regulations will keep Tennessee growing economically. Lower cost to do business in Tennessee will attract more businesses and thus employ more Tennesseans.

ESSAY QUESTION 2:
What are your thoughts about a parent of a child in a low performing public school being provided a voucher equal to the amount of the state’s per-student expenditure that would be applied toward the child’s private school tuition?

I would want to see the Bill before I would support it but in theory as long as it does not allow the private school to pick and choose who they want to accept I think it will provide other options for students trapped in failing schools.

ESSAY QUESTION 3:
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?

When I was drafted by the Chicago White Sox to play baseball professionally. I worked very hard for many years and was able to reach to pinnacle of professional sports. I knew from my father that if I worked hard I would have a chance and it paid off after many years of sacrifice.

ESSAY QUESTION 4:
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?

My leadership abilities and my determination to get a task completed. I have a skill set that allows me to work with a team and attain goals. Lastly I have the patience and ability to listen and learn so I can arrive at a logical conclusion to a set task.

ESSAY QUESTION 5:
What bill that passed in the last General Assembly would you have voted against and why, or what bill that was not passed in the last General Assembly do you wish had passed and why?

I would have supported the Sanctuary City bill that passed the General Assembly. I believe our city's must work within the framework set forth by the State. We need to recognize the importance of protecting our citizens from illegal immigrants especially those that break the law.
