ESSAY QUESTIONS


ESSAY QUESTION 1:
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.

I believe the gov't should cut as much red tape as possible so that new small businesses can open. I would like to see more grants available to places like the Nashville Entrepreneur Center so we can better our future business leaders. I would also like to see our schools teach more of what is required for them to get a job as soon as they exit High School.

ESSAY QUESTION 2:
Explain your views regarding the roles state government and parents have in elementary and secondary education.

I would like to see the local gov't especially the principals have more control over all aspects of their school's education. Parents should be involved and have all types of choices possible for their children.

ESSAY QUESTION 3:
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?

In 2005 I was newly married, had a new baby girl, and opened up my own business all in the same year. The amount of stress was incredible but I just took one day at a time and it all worked out wonderful. It is satisfying now because my wonderful family (husband and two kids) has been through some tough times and we have come out strong. Owning my own business has allowed me to spend time with my children and get involved in politics. It has also given me the opportunity to have several employees and help make peoples lives better. This journey has all be very satisfying and rewarding.

ESSAY QUESTION 4:
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?

My experience as a Metro Council Member and owning my own business. Plus, all my line of education in the Real Estate, Securities, and Insurance will serve the committees's well.

ESSAY QUESTION 5:
What bill passed in the last General Assembly that you would have voted against and why, or what bill did not pass in the last General Assembly that you wish had passed and why?

The bill did not pass to be able to carry guns without a permit. I would have liked to have seen that bill passed because I believe in Constitutional Carry.
