Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.
The government, at any level, should not play any role in economic growth or job creation. The role of the government is explicitly spelled out in the preamble of the US Constitution. Beyond this, the government has no legitimate function.
Explain your views regarding the roles state government and parents have in elementary and secondary education.
Government control of education is the 10th plank of communism. I oppose all 10 planks of communism. I am opposed to any government involvement in education at any level.
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?
I don't get much satisfaction out of politics, because I dislike politics, and spend most of my time dealing with it, rather angry. However, the handful of 'political' action's I've taken out of righteous indignation, or jealously for The Lord, I have felt a measure of peace in. For example, our town tried to cancel a Bible reading which was held at a Christmas tree lighting. I took a Bible to the event, and read the Christmas story at the event anyway. The mayor changed his mind for the subsequent event.
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?
First and foremost, I actually have read a number of the laws, including entire chapters of code. I've read bills, and read laws from other states. That's more than I can say for most of the people holding office now. I'm also uncompromising in my approach, and I tend to favor undemocratic methods to accomplishing goals. The before mentioned Bible reading is a good example of this. I have found it less than useful to wait for a majority of votes or to wait for judges to make the right decision. I prefer Samuel Adam's approach of lighting brush fires in the minds of an irate minority to the glorified mob rule of Democracy.
What bill passed in the last General Assembly that you would have voted against and why, or what bill did not pass in the last General Assembly that you wish had passed and why?
We had a bill that would have made a true constitutional carry legal in Tennessee. I would have voted for this, because I already practice constitutional carry. It would be nice to decriminalize a normal activity.
