ESSAY QUESTIONS
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.
The biggest role for state government to play in relation to economic growth is to get out of the way. Government should keep taxes and regulations low to provide the best conditions for business to flourish.
Explain your views regarding the roles state government and parents have in elementary and secondary education.
In Tennessee, the Governor's "Drive to 55" is a great first-step and an example of what government can do to help improve outcomes.
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?
As a pharmacist, helping individuals who are uninsured get their medications that keep them alive, is a satisfying thing for me everyday. Saving lives is why I am in favor of Insure TN.
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?
My 16 years on city council, business owner for 44 years, my professionalism, my leadership and my faith will enable me to face the challenges of a state legislator. Next to what I do professionally everyday, being a state representative will be a breeze.
What bill passed in the last General Assembly that you would have voted against and why, or what bill did not pass in the last General Assembly that you wish had passed and why?
Insure Tennessee should have passed. 14,000 Tennesseans have died without insurance. 62,000 jobs will be created if it is passed. I am running to help sick individuals, but also hospitals, doctors, pharmacists and those seeking work in the healthcare industry.
