ESSAY QUESTIONS
Explain your view of state government’s role in relation to economic growth and/or job creation.
State governments role is to make sure there is a business friendly environment in Tennessee by keeping taxes low and regulations at a minimum. Also, the State should make sure that there is an educated workforce by working with local school authorities to make sure they have everything that they need to educate their students.
Explain your views regarding the roles state government and parents have in elementary and secondary education.
Parents should have the ultimate authority over what their children are being taught in school.
What is one of the most satisfying things you have ever done or accomplished and what made it so satisfying to you?
I assume you are speaking legislatively. That would have to be when I sponsored a bill to defund planned parenthood and helped pass several other measures to protect life. Nothing is more important.
What personal qualities or experiences do you think will best serve you in your role as a state legislator?
I have served fourteen years in the legislature and before that I was on the School board and County Commission. I have maintained a small business for 30 years and devoted my life to helping people as a physician. I have always made myself readily accessible to anyone that needed my help.
What bill passed in the last General Assembly that you would have voted against and why, or what bill did not pass in the last General Assembly that you wish had passed and why?
I was very disappointed that the "bathroom bill" was not passed this year. I would voted to protect our children's privacy.
